Life is a saga of happiness and sorrow,of wealth and poverty.It goes on and on.We should be satisfied with what we have and should not feel jealous of others fate.That is why the writer is saying that our friends fortune is not our fortune and our vows are not theirs.Even while Kubera was Sivas friend ,Siva had to beg for his livelihood.So, others wealth is of no use to us. Our possessions are ours to enjoy.So,we should be content with what we have.
