Writer is of the opinion that we fail to control our children from going astray we have to pay a heavy penalty.Entire family would be put to blame and loss.In this context ,he is giving us the example of sugarcane which is infected and due to that entire sweetness is deprived of the cane subsequently.
So ,if our son is an utter waste and is not going in right direction,it is whole and sole responsibility of the parents to bring him back to the right track.The main reason is that to cover his wrong deeds ,parents also resort to think in the wrong direction.Because foolishly they would be under the wrong impression that they should stand by their children in good or bad times.They lose the propriety to think impartially and point out the blemishes in their children.
So in the end the entire family is in the sinking ship where there is no way out.
